BUFFALO, N.Y. – In their final home game of the 2025 regular season, the Daemen University women's lacrosse team fell to Roberts Wesleyan on senior day, 19-11, in East Coast Conference women's lacrosse action Saturday afternoon at Coyer Field.
Prior to the game, the Wildcats honored their graduating class of
Cameron Briggs (Buffalo, N.Y.),
Katelynn Deveans (Clinton, N.Y.),
Gabi Accurso (Buffalo, N.Y.),
Irelyne Tarbell (Akwesasne, N.Y.) and
Olivia Wade (Eden, N.Y.).
With the win, Roberts Wesleyan improved to 7-6 overall and 5-0 in ECC play while Daemen dropped to 4-9 and 2-3 in ECC play.
Kadie Tierney led the Redhawks with seven goals while Emma Blumenstock provided a game-high eight points. Allison Clahane led the Roberts defense with four ground balls and four caused turnovers while in net, Shawna Lesmerises made nine saves to secure the win.
Junior midfielder
Ella Bouley (Auburn, N.Y.) tallied a team-best four goals, five points and five draw controls to lead the Daemen attack. Bouley and junior defender
Jenna Havert (Newark, N.Y.) each notched three ground balls and caused four turnovers to pace the Daemen defense. In her senior day game, Briggs tallied four draw controls to surpass 200 for her career spanning her time at Medaille, Notre Dame College and Daemen. In net, freshman
Molly Evans (Fulton, N.Y.) made eight saves in the loss.
Daemen began the game with a bang as Tarbell received a pass from Wade and fired a behind the back shot into the back of the net to get Daemen on the board in just 1:11. The Redhawks outscored Daemen 8-1 for the remainder of the first half to command a 8-2 lead at halftime.
Out of the intermission, Daemen began to chip away at the Redhawks advantage as Bouley, Briggs and junior attacker
Avery Castner (Penn Yan, N.Y.) each found the back of the net in to cut their deficit to just three, 8-5, with 12:44 remaining in the third stanza.
Still, the Redhawks had an answer as an Ella Dossier goal kicked off a 5-1 scoring run that sent the visitors into the fourth quarter with a 13-6 lead.
Daemen attempted one last comeback to begin the fourth as again they rattled off the first three goals of the frame, this time coming off the sticks of Bouley, Deveans and junior midfielder
Kylie Miranto (North Tonawanda, N.Y.) to make it a 13-9 contest with 13:12 to play. The 'Cats comeback was short lived however as Roberts scored six of the final eight goals of the contest to seal the 19-11 road win.
The Redhawks ended the day with a 30-25 edge in shots and slim 18-16 advantage in draw controls. Each side completed 16 clears with Roberts going 16-of-22 and Daemen going 16-of-19.
GAME NOTES
• Today marked the third all-time meeting between the two sides. The Redhawks have won all three meetings as well.
• Deveans is now four draw controls away from 200 for her career.
• Bouley scored three-or-more goals for the fourth time this year and first time since March 22 at St. Thomas Aquinas.
• Tarbell's first quarter goal was the first of her Daemen career.
