Schultz Named ECC Defensive Player of the Week

9/8/2025 2:00:00 PM

AMHERST, N.Y. Daemen goalkeeper Becca Schultz (Grand Island, N.Y.) was named East Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week,  announced Monday.

She recorded a .857 save percentage, a 1.50 goals-against average, and made 18 saves in two games over the weekend, finishing with a 1-1 record.

Schultz logged five saves in the Wildcats' comeback win over American International on Sunday, making crucial stops to help Daemen's defense withstand a barrage of shots from the Yellow Jackets. Schultz stopped fours shots and held AIC scoreless in the second half to secure the victory.

On Friday, the goalkeeper turned aside 13 shots against Assumption, allowing just one goal. She totaled four saves in the first half and nine in the second, marking the 10th time in her career she has reached double digits in saves. Schultz recorded four saves in a seven-minute span to deny the Greyhounds on scoring opportunities.

Schultz earned an ECC weekly honor for the ninth time in her career. She was named Defensive Player of the Week three times last season and took home the honor five times during the 2023 campaign.

The Wildcats return home Friday to host St. Anselm at 5:30 p.m. at Royal Park.
