The first day of the tournament featured five rounds of Baker Format matches. The Wildcats began the tournament by falling 980-783 to #23 nationally ranked and ECC foe Kutztown before bouncing back with a 785-718 victory over Howard. Daemen then lost back-to-back contests against ranked opponents, falling 954-844 to #24 Delaware State, before dropping a close 833-802 decision to #9 Mount St. Mary's. The Wildcats ended the day earning a 799-755 victory over ECC rival Molloy. It marked Daemen's first win over the Lions since March 2022, snapping a five-match losing streak. UP NEXT The Wildcats continue with Day 2 of the Northeast Classic on Saturday, facing off against Maryland Eastern Shore, North Carolina A&T, Morgan State, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
