Daemen Cruises Past Franklin Pierce in Non-Conferce Finale

RINDGE, N.H. — Daemen (11-2, 4-0 ECC) defeated Franklin Pierce (1-11, 0-3 NE10), 76-42, to conclude non-conference play on Saturday. 

The Wildcats' defense forced 25 turnovers, resulting in a 36-point advantage from those opportunities. Daemen dominated the paint with 50 points, while the bench contributed 30 points to secure the victory. Franklin Pierce struggled offensively, managing just 12 baskets throughout the contest.

IMPACT PLAYERS
  • Ne'vaeh Buntley (Rochester, N.Y.) scored 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting and logged three steals. 
  • Sophie Auer (Lewiston, N.Y.) finished with 12 points, converting 6 of 7 shot attempts. 
  • Shyla Montgomery (Brockton, Mass.) contributed six points and added five assists along with two steals. 
  • Brianna Caliri (Staten Island, N.Y.) scored nine points and registered two steals. 
  • Julia Fontanillo (Valladolid, Spain) scored three points, recorded six assists, and collected two steals.
  • Claire Pikett (Holland, N.Y.) logged four steals and four rebounds while adding eight points. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
  • Daemen opened the first quarter with a swift 5–0 start, highlighted by Buntley's three-pointer just six seconds into play. The visitors maintained control through aggressive defense, forcing 11 turnovers and converting them into 10 fast-break points. By the end of the quarter, the Wildcats held a 26–6 lead over the Ravens. 
  • In the second quarter, Daemen extended its lead, starting with Fontanillo draining a 3-pointer at 4:07, assisted by Auer. The Wildcats' defense was solid, limiting the Ravens to three shots and forcing crucial turnovers. The quarter concluded with a 3-pointer from Reece Beaver (Busti, N.Y.), assisted by Buntley, increasing Daemen's lead to 42–15.
  • The Wildcats surged in the third quarter, highlighted by Buntley's layup at 7:47 and a subsequent 3-pointer, extending the lead significantly. Daemen capitalized on the Ravens' turnovers, converting six steals into quick points, including a layup by Beaver at 2:46. Daemen outscored Franklin Pierce 20-12 in the quarter, ending with a commanding 62-27 lead. 
  • The Wildcats maintained their advantage in the fourth quarter, effectively utilizing points in the paint to extend their lead. Kaylee Marvin (Ontario, N.Y.) hit a jumper at 9:06, assisted by Fontanillo, and Beaver and Morgan White (New Carlisle, Ind.) each added key baskets, maintaining Daemen's scoring momentum.
GAME NOTES
  • Pikett recorded more than three steals for the sixth time this season.
  • Fontanillo's six assists led the team and marked a season high. 
  • Kyleigh Chapman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) tied her season-high in rebounds (6) for the second straight game. 
  • The Wildcats led the entire 40 minutes of the contest, taking control from the start and never looking back. 
  • Daemen forced 25 Raven turnovers and scored 36 points off them.
  • The points in the paint finished in the Wildcats' favor at 50-14
  • Daemen shot 49.3% (33-of-67) from the field. The 33 made field goals ties the team's season-high. 
  • The Wildcats' defense registered 17 steals in the contest. 
  • Daemen held Franklin Pierce to 24.5% shooting from the field, including a 13.6% mark from three.
  • The 32-point win was Daemen's second-largest margin of victory this season, behind a 96-61(35 points) win over Goldey-Beacom.

The Wildcats restart ECC action at home, first hosting District of Columbia at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, before welcoming Staten Island to Lumsden Gymnasium at 12 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 11.
