AMHERST, N.Y. – Daemen University Athletics has announced the public release of The Wildcat Way, a comprehensive strategic vision that will guide the department's priorities, initiatives and continued growth through 2031.

The five-year plan outlines an ambitious roadmap designed to strengthen Daemen's position as Western New York's premier NCAA Division II athletics program while advancing its mission to "create tomorrow's leaders by developing championship-caliber student-athletes today."

Developed through a collaborative process involving coaches, administrators, alumni and student-athletes, the strategic vision builds upon the department's accomplishments over the previous five years while establishing priorities for continued competitive excellence, student-athlete development and community engagement.

"The Wildcat Way 2026–2031 is the product of genuine collaboration," said Traci Murphy, Daemen's Vice President for Athletics. "Every pillar of this plan was shaped by working groups of coaches, administrators, alumni, and student-athletes who reviewed what we accomplished together in the previous five years, celebrated our progress, and challenged us to aim higher."

The strategic vision is organized around six core values that comprise the department's FIERCE framework:

  • Fearless: Dedication to a Championship Mindset
  • Integrity: Allegiance to Our Wildcat Culture
  • Effort: Progressive Communication Strategies
  • Respect: Cultivating a Wildcat Community Where Every Member Is Welcomed, Valued, and Belongs
  • Commitment: Comprehensive Development of Student-Athletes
  • Engagement: Forging an Interconnected Wildcat Community

Among the plan's priorities are enhancing recruiting and competitive resources, developing a comprehensive athletics facility master plan, expanding academic and leadership development opportunities, strengthening student-athlete health and wellness services, and increasing engagement with alumni, fans, corporate partners and the Western New York community.

The document also emphasizes fiscal responsibility, institutional accountability and measurable progress toward established objectives.

As Daemen continues to elevate its regional and national profile, the strategic vision reinforces the department's commitment to providing a championship-caliber experience that extends beyond competition.

"We enter this next chapter as Daemen University — a university with national aspirations and a Division II athletics program that reflects those ambitions," Murphy added. "We have built something here in Western New York that is worth competing for, and this plan charts the path forward."
