Women's Bowling Returns to the Lanes this Weekend

BACK IN ACTION 
The Daemen University women's bowling team is back in action this weekend, competing at the Wildcat D2/D3 Invitational, a three-day tournament in Turnersville, N.J., hosted by Wilmington University (Del.).

TOURNAMENT INFO 
The tournament begins on Friday with five Baker Format rounds. On Saturday, the competition switches to a traditional format before ending with three rounds of best-of-seven on Sunday. The Wildcats last competed at this tournament during the 2023-24 season, when they posted an 8-4 record, claiming eighth place. 

LAST TIME OUT 
Daemen last competed at the Northeast Classic in New Castle. Del. The Wildcats kicked off the tournament with two wins on the first day, beginning with a 785-718 victory over Howard. Daemen then ended the day with a 799-755 victory over ECC rival Molloy. It marked the Wildcats' first win over the Lions since March 2022, snapping a five-match losing streak. Daemen played tough competition on the second day, dropping some close decisions. Leading the way individually was Mackenzie Hutchins (Wheatfield, N.Y.), who posted a 181 average, and Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y.), who logged a 178 average. Daemen wrapped up the tournament, earning two wins in Baker Format Best of Seven matches, starting with a 4-2 triumph over LIU. The Wildcats also defeated Molloy for the second time in the tournament, earning a 4-2 victory.

ECC WEEKLY HONOR ROLL 
Cassidy Papero (Cheektowaga, N.Y.) was named to the ECC Weekly Honor Roll on Jan. 22 following her performance at the Northeast Classic. Papero logged a 178 average during the traditional format rounds at the tournament. She placed 88th out of 229 bowlers from 39 teams. The junior recorded scores of 189, 198, 157, 169, and 177. She also helped Daemen earn wins over Howard, Molloy (twice), and LIU at the three-day tournament.

BY THE NUMBERS 
Through this point in the season, Brenna Forsha (Tonawanda, N.Y.) is the team leader in strikes (206) and strike percentage (38.6%). Right behind her is Sabrina Palmer (Waterloo, N.Y.), who has thrown 195 strikes and posted a strike percentage of 37.2%. Forsha has completed 530 frames for the Wildcats this season, while Palmer has completed 524. Hutchins is the team leader in spares (233).

The Wildcats are back in action next weekend, staying in Western New York to compete at the Niagara Spring Classic on Saturday and Sunday.
