Buntley and Chapman Earn ECC Weekly Honors

AMHERST, N.Y. — The ECC released its weekly awards on Monday, with Ne'vaeh Buntley (Rochester, N.Y.) earning Player of the Week and Kyleigh Chapman (Canandaigua, N.Y.) being named Defensive Player of the Week.

The two players helped the Wildcats earn a 79-51 victory at UDC on Friday and 78-75 comeback victory in overtime at CSI on Sunday. 

Buntley averaged 28.0 points, 3.0 steals, and 5.0 rebounds per game, helping in the wins over the weekend. On Friday at UDC, Buntley scored 22 points and recorded two steals, leading the offensive charge with nine field goals, including 3-of-5 shooting from beyond the arc. She also grabbed four rebounds and dished out an assist. 

On Sunday at Staten Island, Buntley scored a career-high 34 points, shooting 8-for-8 from the free-throw line, and recorded four steals while grabbing six rebounds. She made a career-best 12 field goals in the victory. Buntley's scoring helped the Wildcats erase an early 20-point deficit, forcing the game into overtime to earn the victory.

Chapman averaged 3.0 steals, 1.5 blocks, and 7.0 rebounds per game in Daemen's victories. On Friday during the Wildcats' win at UDC, the sophomore added defensive intensity, recording a career-high six steals while tallying two blocks and collecting nine rebounds, including eight defensive rebounds. The guard also scored two points and dished out two assists. On Sunday at CSI, Chapman grabbed five rebounds, recorded one block, and scored three points. 

Buntley leads the Wildcats and ranks third in the ECC in scoring at 16.8 PPG, while tied for eighth in steals per game (1.9). Chapman is tied for 12th in the conference in steals per game (1.6 SPG) and tied for 14th in total blocks (13). 

This is the first time this season that both Chapman and Buntley have earned a weekly honor from the league. 

The Wildcats are home for the final time in the regular season this weekend, hosting Mercy at 5:30 p.m. on Friday and St. Thomas Aquinas on Sunday at 12 p.m. for senior day.
