AMHERST, N.Y. - Senior men's basketball player Jim Regan (Williamsville, N.Y./Nichols) and senior women's basketball player Monica Kosior (Grimsby, Ont./Canisius College) have been named  Daemen College's Bedore Tours Student-Athletes of the Month for January 2013 today.

Regan, a 6-foot, 7-inch forward, led the Wildcats to a 6-1 record in the month.  For the month, he averaged 20.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per game while shooting 61-percent from the field (45-for-74).

He established a new career-high with 13 rebounds in a 61-54 loss at Ave Maria University on Jan. 5 and also set a new career-best with a 31-point outing during Daemen's 93-70 win at the University of Maine-Presque Isle on Jan. 18.

Regan also canned 26 points on 10-of-13 shooting along with 11 rebounds in a 113-90 victory vs. Salem International University on Jan. 26 - the final home game of his career.  The double-double vs. SIU was his third of
the month.

His month concluded with his selection as the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Men's Basketball Division I Player of the Week for Jan. 21-27.

For the season, Regan is third on the team in scoring (12.7 ppg) and second in rebounding (6.8 rpg).  He's already ranked amongst Daemen's all-time leaders in rebounding (7th), games played (4th) and blocked shots (3rd) and also stands just 27 points shy of cracking into the top 10 all-time in scoring.

Kosior, a 6-foot, 5-inch center, helped the women's basketball team to a 5-2 record last month.  In those seven games, she averaged 18.6 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4 blocked shots per game while shooting 65-percent from the field (62-for-95).

Kosior opened the month with an 18-point, 12-rebound performance in Daemen's 71-65 road win at St. Thomas University on New Year's Day.  It would be the first of four double-doubles in the month for Kosior.

She scored 22 points on 11-of-16 shooting in a loss at Cornell University of NCAA Division I and The Ivy League on Jan. 13.

Kosior closed the month by establishing new career-highs for points (27) and rebounds (15) to lead Daemen past NCAA Division II independent Salem International University on Jan. 26.  She also matched a career-best with seven blocked shots which set she set earlier in the month against the University of Maine-Fort Kent.

For the season, Kosior leads the team in scoring (13.5 ppg) and rebounding (8.7 rpg).  She's scored in double figures in nine consecutive games and has recorded 11 double-doubles so far this season.  She also leads all USCAA Division I players in blocked shots (75).
