Daemen University Athletics

Matt Dyrek enters his first season as a member of the men’s basketball coaching staff in 2018-19. He comes to Daemen after spending the last two years at Canisius High School. Last year he served as an assistant coach for the varsity basketball team and helped the Crusaders to a 23-3 record and a No. 3 ranking in the final New York State Class A poll.

A 2016 graduate of The College at Brockport, Dyrek is a veteran of numerous high-profile summer basketball camps. The past two summers he has worked camps at the University of Notre Dame, the University of Kansas and Syracuse University. He has also worked camps at the University of Michigan and Duke University in recent years. Dyrek has also assisted at Daemen’s summer basketball camps the past three summers.

A native of North Tonawanda, N.Y. and a graduate of St. Joseph’s Collegiate Institute, Dyrek also served as a volunteer coach at Starpoint High School while in college. He is a member of the the Basketball Coaches Association of New York (BCANY) and served an internship with the Indiana Pacers of the National Basketball Association in the summer of 2016.
