Quinn Lee Yaw enters his first season as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Daemen in 2023-24. He joins the Daemen staff after spending the 2022-23 season as an assistant at SUNY Maritime under former Daemen assistant coach Mike Berkun.
A native of Jamestown, N.Y., he was as a three-year starter at Jamestown High School. As a senior he led the Red Raiders to their second straight Section 6 Class AA championship and a berth in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championship game. In the Section 6 Class AA title game he finished with 26 points and 15 rebounds in a win over Clarence, and was named tournament MVP. A two-time Jamestown Post-Journal all-star, he was selected the ECIC Division 1 Co-Player of the Year and second team All-Western New York as a senior. He was also a four-year starter in soccer and played football for one one season for the Red Raiders.
He began his collegiate career at Edinboro University and spent two seasons with the Fighting Scots before transferring to St. Bonaventure University prior to the 2016-17 season. He made the Bonnies as a walk-on but did not play during the 2016-17 season. He then transferred to Daemen and sat out the 2017-18 season before becoming a key part of the 2018-19 team that went 24-6 and made the program’s first-ever appearance in the NCAA Division II Tournament. A team captain, he played in all 30 games that season and averaged 9.1 points and 4.5 rebounds.
He earned his bachelor’s degree in psychology from Daemen and played professionally for the Tri State Admirals and the Connecticut Cobras of The Basketball League in 2021-22.
