Daemen University men's basketball head coach
Mike MacDonald announced a new addition to the Wildcats, signing 12-year-old Jeremy Cusick through Team IMPACT.
Jeremy was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis and was officially introduced at a signing day press conference on Dec. 14. He will participate in many activities with the team including games, practices, and other team events.
"We are thrilled to have Jeremy join our team" MacDonald said. "He is a great addition to the Wildcats and has already had an impact on us. There is no doubt in our mind Jeremy will make our program better each and every day."
Team IMPACT, a national non-profit organization, has developed a unique multiyear program that matches children facing serious illness and disability with college athletic teams across the country. Based on a clinical model, Team IMPACT guides a symbiotic relationship between teams and children focused on socialization, empowerment, and resilience.
"Team IMPACT is excited to see Jeremy join the Wildcats," Emma Simches, Regional Director of Programs, Northeast at Team IMPACT, said. "We are proud to work with Daemen University, their athletic department, and coaching staff to create lifelong bonds and life-changing outcomes between student-athletes and their Team IMPACT teammates."
The ECC entered into a partnership with Team IMPACT in the Fall of 2013 and Daemen has been working with the organization since 2014. Daemen
entered into a formal partnership with Team IMPACT in the summer of 2021.
