Seth Yernye enters his third season as the Assistant Men's & Women's Cross Country Coach, bringing a solid background to the table in assisting third-year head coach Jessica Gorski. Â
Prior to joining the staff at Daemen, Yernye served as the head coach at Bishop Timon-St. Jude High School in Buffalo, where he helped six athletes earn All-Msgr. Martin Athletic Association honors between 2011 and 2012.
As an athlete himself, Yernye was a Gold Medalist in the 1500 meter run at the 2010 Empire State Games, and still competes as a runner on the Syracuse Chargers Elite Development Team.
A 2006 graduate of Lake Shore High School, Yernye was a two-time ECIC Co-Champion for cross-country and qualified for the NYSPHSAA Cross-Country Championships in 2005. Yernye went on to attend Erie Community College and trained under head coach Sean Kibrick, becoming an NJCAA All-American for cross-country in 2007. He was also a three-time Region III runner-up in the 5000 meters (twice as an indoor track & field athlete, once as an outdoor track & field athlete).
In 2008, Yernye transferred to SUNY Plattsburgh where he competed in the NCAA Division III Cross-Country National Meet in Hanover, IN. He was All-SUNYAC for the indoor mile in 2009 and won the 5000 meters at the 2009 ECAC Outdoor Championships. As a senior, Yernye was a Penn Relays Qualifier in the 5000 meters as well as a Provisional Qualifier for the Division III Outdoor National Championships in 2010.
