Matt Pokigo enters his fifth season as the Head Men's Golf Coach in 2013-14.  Under his direction, the program has risen to new heights as evidenced by their United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship won in October of 2012 at the Penn State University Blue Course.

In his first four years on the job, Pokigo has led the Wildcats to several tournament victories while coaching three USCAA All-Americans, three All-American Mideast Conference honorees and one American Mideast Conference Medalist.  He's also emphasized the importance of academics amongst his players as his team has achieved a grade point average above 3.0 each year.

Before taking the program over, Pokigo served as the team's assistant coach for three years under former head coach Don Silveri.

Pokigo is a former two-sport athlete at Daemen, having played golf and soccer.  He is a three-time NAIA All-America Scholar-Athlete and the first Daemen student-athlete to earn the accolade in two sports.  He served as the captain of the golf team and earned one team M.V.P. award.  For his efforts on the golf course, the pitch, and in the classroom, Pokigo was honored as an inductee of the College's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Pokigo graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2005 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting.  He added Master's Degree in Global Business with a specialization in Marketing in 2007, also from Daemen.  While pursuing his Master's Degree, Pokigo served as a Graduate Assistant in the Athletics Department, overseeing facilities, event management and the department's work-study staff.

Pokigo resides in his native Hamburg, N.Y. with is wife, Kelly (a 2006 Daemen graduate), and their dog, Riley.
