The 2020 season marks the second for James Kpainay on the Daemen College men's soccer coaching staff as he assists with all facets of the program, including on-field coaching, scouting of opponents and recruiting.
A former teammate of head coach Bediako Swan at Davis & Elkins College (W.Va.), Kpainay earned All-Atlantic Region honors as a senior defender for the Senators in 2009. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Marketing/Business Administration from Davis & Elkins in 2010. He also pursued minor course studies in Exercise Science.
Kpainay's Daemen job is his first foray into collegiate coaching, but he's gained valuable experience at the high school and club levels in the Washington, D.C. and Buffalo, N.Y. areas. After serving as an assistant coach at Maret High School in Washington, D.C., Kpainay earned a head coaching opportunity at Bladensburg (Md.) High School. After moving to Buffalo, he's served as a youth soccer instructor with Jouons Soccer Club since 2016.
