Stephen Beatty enters his fifth season as the Head Men's and Women's Tennis Coach in 2017-18.  He was promoted to the position after serving as an assistant coach during both teams' inaugural season of competition in 2012-13.

Since taking the reins of the program, Beatty has guided both teams to marked improvements in the win column.  The women's team octupled their win total (from one win in 2012-13 to eight in 2013-14) while the men's team more than doubled their win total (from three wins in 2012-13 to seven in 2013-14).

2013-14 also marked the teams' first season of competition within the East Coast Conference (ECC) of NCAA Division II.  The women's team secured its first-ever ECC victory in their season opener, a 7-2 defeat of Dowling College.  The men's team also defeated Dowling, 7-2, on March 28 for their first win in ECC play.

Beatty's tennis background is extensive, having served as an Assistant Tennis Professional at Miller Tennis Center from 2006-2016.  In this role, Beatty has experience with on-court coaching and drilling with pupils from age four up to adults.  He has also been responsible for organizing, promoting and scheduling leagues and tournaments.

From 2006-12, Beatty was also a member of the tournament staff at the Eddie Herr International Junior Championships held at Bolletieri's Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Fla.  This is the largest junior tournament in the world with more than 1,800 participants from 90 countries.  Beatty has also been the Assistant Tournament Director for the Sargent and Collins, LLP $10,000 USTA Pro Circuit Event since 2011.

As a tennis player, Beatty starred for Grand Island High School in the early 2000's, compiling a 63-12 record over six years and was a four-time Section VI Championships qualifier.  He also earned one silver medal (2004) and one bronze medal (2005) in the singles competition at the Empire State Games.

Collegiately, Beatty helped Northwood University (Mich.) to a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship in 2006-07, with the team advancing to the Round of 16 at the NCAA Division II National Championships that season.  Later, after transferring, Beatty competed for D'Youville College here in Buffalo, twice earning team M.V.P. honors as well as one Second Team All-Allegeheny Mountain Collegiate Conference selection.

Beatty holds Professional Tennis Registry Certifications in Adult and Junior Development.  He also graduated from D'Youville with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.
