  • Title
Team Physician - Primary Care/Sports Medicine

Practicing primary care sports medicine on a daily basis is both exciting and rewarding.  Although some of my patients are athletes, many are not. I enjoy taking care of all different types of patients who may suffer concussions, fractured bones or sprained joints and have been doing so since my fellowship in 2007.

I am proud to be part of the UB Concussion Clinic and our numerous offices that provide comprehensive concussion care and management. We use an interdisciplinary approach to treating the patient that involves physical therapists, athletic trainers and neuropsychologists as well as physicians. This cutting-edge medical team also organizes a collaborative, city-wide concussion management focus group where ideas are exchanged. Here, many physicians as well as other medical professionals who treat concussions discuss the latest research topics and advances in concussion care.  A recent research article of mine was published in the Clinical Journal of Sports Medicine (CJSM), describing how the integration of an exercise treadmill test with computerized neuropsychological testing can best assess when an athlete is ready to return to sport. In this way, we can achieve our goal of returning an athlete his or her sport as quickly, yet as safely as possible.

From my personal athletic history, family medicine training, research experience and primary care sports medicine teaching position, I feel patients will undoubtedly receive the highest level of quality care they deserve for their orthopedic injuries.
