Sischo Is ECC's First Seven-Time Rookie of the Week Honoree Since 2010-11 By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications Men's Basketball | 2/12/2018 5:00:00 PM AMHERST, N.Y. - For the seventh time this season, Andrew Sischo (Guilderland, N.Y./Guilderland) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week, becoming the league's first seven-time recipient since the 2010-11 season. The official announcement of ECC accolades for February 5-11 was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y. Sischo recorded his sixth double-double of the season by scoring 18 points and grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds in a 77-70 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College last Friday evening, the Wildcats' only action of the week. Sischo shot 5-for-8 from the field and 8-for-11 from the charity stripe while adding two assists and a block in what was the Wildcats' 14th straight win in the series with their longtime rivals from Rochester. It was also Daemen's 12th win in their last 13 games this season, propelling them to a 17-7 overall record, an 11-3 mark in ECC play, and a No. 5 ranking in the latest D2SIDA East Region media poll. Sischo has posted 16 straight double-figure scoring games, now the longest streak for a Daemen player since former guard/forward Torrence Dyck (Rochester, N.Y.) posted 10 or more points in the final 24 games of his career during the 2015-16 season. Sischo's streak started Dec. 15 when he erupted for a career-high 27 points in a four-point road win over Mercy College. In the span, Sischo is averaging 17.1 points on 60.4 percent field-goal shooting (119-for-197), while adding 9.3 rebounds per game.  For the season, Sischo has appeared in all 24 games while making 13 starts, and he leads all ECC freshmen and ranks ninth among the overall conference leaders in scoring (14.6 ppg). He also ranks among the league leaders in rebounding (7.9 - second), made field goals (145 - fourth) and field goal percentage (57.3 - third). With 351 total points, Sischo has scored the most points for a Daemen freshman since Brian Montanaro's (Liverpool, N.Y.) 420 during the 2002-03 season. Sischo had previously earned ECC Rookie of the Week honors for games played November 20-26, December 11-17, December 18-31, January 1-7, January 15-21 and January 29-February 4. His seven Rookie of the Week selections this season are the most for any ECC player since former Molloy guard John Petrucelli, brother of Sischo's teammate Nick Petrucelli (Hicksville, N.Y.) earned nine selections during the 2010-11 season. Since the start of the 2015-16 campaign, Daemen players have earned 17 of the 43 Rookie of the Week selections named by the conference, more than double the next closest team (Molloy College has eight selections in that span). Sischo and the Wildcats play their final regular season home games this weekend as Molloy (Friday, Feb. 16) and Queens College (Sunday, Feb. 18) visit Lumsden Gymnasium where the Wildcats are 9-3 this season and 79-13 since the start of the 2011-12 season. For breaking news and continuing coverage of the Daemen men's basketball team, follow @DaemenAthletics and @DaemenMBB on Twitter.  Print Friendly Version Players Mentioned #24 Nick Petrucelli G 6' 3" Redshirt Junior #22 Andrew Sischo C 6' 9" Redshirt Freshman Players Mentioned #24 Nick Petrucelli 6' 3" Redshirt Junior G #22 Andrew Sischo 6' 9" Redshirt Freshman C
