For the month, Dyck appeared in and started all 10 of the team's games and led the Wildcats to a 9-1 record. He scored 20 or more points eight times and averaged 25.2 points. He shot 52-percent (93-179) overall and 37-percent (19-52) from three-point land over the 10 games and also contributed 5.7 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.1 steals per game.The highlight of the month came during a stretch of three-straight road games in which he averaged 30.7 points in wins over Roberts Wesleyan College, Long Island University - Post and New York Institute of Technology. He opened the week by leading Daemen to an improbable come-from-behind victory at RWC, as he scored 18 points in the final six minutes of the game—helping Daemen erase a 22-point deficit with a furious 34-10 rally late in the game. Dyck's driving layup with four seconds remaining was the difference in a 98-96 instant classic that saw him match his career-high with 35 points. That epic performance was followed by a 27-point, eight-rebound outing as Dyck led Daemen to a 91-82 win at LIU Post, handing the regionally-ranked Pioneers their first ECC loss of the season. Dyck went on to score 30 points in an 83-67 win at NYIT. His efforts were recognized by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA), which named him the national Division II Player of the Week. He was also selected the East Coast Conference Player of the Week for the second time this season.Dyck capped the month by scoring 30 points—his fourth 30-point effort of the season—in a key 100-89 win the University of the District of Columbia. He has started all 20 games for the Wildcats this season and leads the ECC in points per game (23.4 ppg). He also leads the team in field goal percentage (.522), assists per game (2.8 apg) and steals (19) and ranks second in three-pointers made (35) and rebounding (6.1 rpg).Behind the play of Dyck, the men's basketball team has won nine-straight games and currently sits in second place in the ECC standings. The nine-game winning streak is the second longest in the East Region behind ECC front-runner St. Thomas Aquinas College (12 straight). Daemen and STAC will square off in the huge ECC game Thursday (Feb. 11) in Sparkill, N.Y.Saba, a 6-foot sophomore guard on the women's basketball team, appeared in and started all eight of the team's games, averaging 19.3 points, 4.1 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. She scored in double figures in all eight games and was the team's leading scorer in seven of the eight contests.She nearly led the Wildcats to an upset of regionally-ranked Roberts Wesleyan College with 24 points and four assists on Jan. 12, and three days later scored a career-high 26 points in a 76-68 win at Long Island University - Post—Daemen's first-ever victory over the Pioneers. She also scored 19 points and grabbed five boards in an 87-68 win over Molloy College on Jan. 22.Saba has scored in double figures in 16 of the last 17 games and has scored 20 or more points six times during that stretch. She leads the team and ranks sixth among the East Coast Conference leaders in points per game (16.6 ppg) and also ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.9 rpg). The team's leading scorer last year as a freshman, Saba has totaled 727 points (15.1 ppg) and 323 rebounds (6.7 rpg) in 48 career games.The women's basketball team posted a weekend sweep of Dowling College and the University of Bridgeport this past weekend and has now won four of its last seven games. The Wildcats return to action Thursday (Feb. 11) when they travel to St. Thomas Aquinas College for an ECC game.
