BUFFALO, NY - Daemen (25-13) and Buffalo State (15-19) battled five sets and the visiting Wildcats defeated the Bengals, 3-2, in the regular season finale tonight at the Buffalo State Sports Arena.
Daemen dropped the first set and then battled back to take a 2-1 set lead before dropping the fourth. Ultimately, the Wildcats took home the deciding fifth set, giving them their fifth win of the season in five-set matches (20-22, 25-13, 25-16, 23-25, 15-11).
Lindsey Nowak (West Seneca/Immaculata Academy) and
Katie Auge (Salamanca/Salamance) led Daemen with 15 kills and 24 digs, respectively.
Chelsea Turcer (Alexander/Alexander) paced the Daemen offense with 18 assists while
Kimmie Mack (Livonia/Livonia) added 14. Sophomore
Jenn Karan (Orchard Park/Orchard Park) chipped in with 14 kills.
Sam Parente (E. Patchogue/Bellport) had a team-high 11 kills for the Bengals. Senior Paige Ottaviano (Pt. Colborne, ON/Lakeshore Catholic) had nine kills, nine digs and three blocks. Kelsey Bashore (Antwerp, OH/Antwerp) dished out 42 assists, to go along with 17 digs and Chelsea Moore (Kenmore/Kenmore West) added 28 digs and three aces.
The Wildcats close out their 2011 regular season with a home match vs. Walsh this Saturday at 6:30pm.
