Big Second Half Lifts Medaille Past Daemen

BUFFALO, NY - The Daemen College men's soccer team visited Medaille College this evening at All High Stadium in a non-conference match against their crosstown NCAA Division III foe. The first half saw a scoreless tie but the Mavs erupted in the second half en route to a 4-1 victory over the Wildcats.

"The boys played a great first half and we, unfortunately, had a goal disallowed on an offside call before the period ended," said Daemen head coach Mark Spacone. "We committed a few fouls in dangerous parts of the field in the second half and they capitalized. We are taking a lot of positives from this game, however."

Medaille's Alex Rouse blasted a free kick from 30 yards out to beat the Daemen keeper just 1:39 into the second half. A little more than five minutes later, George Tor lofted a long ball over the Wildcat defense and goalkeeper to give the Mavs a two-goal lead. The flurry of scoring continued about a half minute later as Brandon Kohler scored his second marker of the season when Kevin Dhillon and Greg Hoffman set up a bang-bang play to put Medaille up three. In the 63rd minute Shane Ramage would finish a David Pihlblad offering for the Mavs fourth and final goal of the game.

Daemen's goal-scoring machine Kyle Clifford managed to thwart the shutout as he notched his ninth tally of the season late in the match off a feed from Zakariah Hall.

The win pushes Medaille to 6-2-1 on the year and they keep a clean home record as they are now 4-0-0 on their home pitch. Daemen drops to 3-3-0.
