Box Score 2 BUFFALO, NY - The Daemen College women's volleyball team extended its' season-long winning streak to 12 today after dispatching of the Buffalo State Bengals (28-26, 25-23, 25-9) and the St. John Fisher Cardinals (25-10, 29-27, 25-18) in straight set victories at the Buffalo State Sports Arena. With the wins, the Wildcats, newly ranked atop the latest USCAA National Poll, improve to 16-5 on the season.
Junior
Jenn Karan (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park HS) led the way in the opener vs. Buffalo State with 15 kills and a .448 hitting percentage.
Sophomore
Ye Wang (Beijing, China/Hachioji Jissen HS) added 10 kills while
Lindsey Nowak (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata Acad.) and
Joanna Fretthold (North Tonawanda, NY/North Tonawanda HS) split 12 kills between them.
The win was Daemen's second in as many weeks over the Bengals (19-6).
Karan again came through with 11 kills in the win over St. John Fisher (4-16). Nowak added nine kills as well.
Daemen will learn their postseason fate this coming Friday, October 19 when the bids for the USCAA National Tournament are announced. At this point, the Wildcats appear to be a lock for the 10-team tournament that occurs November 1-4 on the campus of SUNY Canton.
Additionally, the Wildcats are looking ahead to their next matches; they'll be put to the test at the BLT Sportswear Crusader Classic hosted by Madonna University next weekend. While there, the Wildcats will face the host Crusaders, ranked #18 in the NAIA, as well as USCAA #2 Rochester and NAIA #7 Embry-Riddle (FL).
