Daemen Runners Complete Prep Work For USCAA Nationals

AURORA, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's and women's cross-country teams had their final meet today in preparation for the USCAA National Championships as they partook in the Wells College Invitational, with both teams finishing second in their respective team standings.

The Daemen women were once again led by freshman Jordan Weir (Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian) who finished the 5K race at 21:13.44 - good enough for 4th place out of 38 female competitors.

Daemen also got strong showing from sophomore Noelle Thompson (Vestal, NY/Vestal) who finished in 6th place at 21:32.09 and freshman Brooke Nolan (Depew, NY/Depew) who finished in 12th place at 23:07.59.

William Smith College took the women's team title as well as the individual honors, taken by Emily D'Addario who came in with the only sub-20 minute time of 19:56.12.

On the men's side, sophomore Zac Ekdahl (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman) led the way with a 3rd place finish, running the 6K race at 23:27.28. Daemen also got top 10 performances, in the 46-participant field, from junior Ethan Dinan (Geneva, NY/Geneva) who who finished in 6th place at 23:39.98 and sophomore Zach Eustance (Hilton, NY/Hilton) who rounded out the top 10 with a time of 24:20.49.

Morrisville State's Austin Townsley paced the men's field with a time of 23:00.67 while leading Morrisville State to the team title as well.

The Wildcats are idle until the USCAA National Championships which will be held at Mt. Van Hoevenburg in Lake Placid, NY on November 8.
