Box Score AMHERST, NY - The Daemen College volleyball team rebounded from a two-match losing skid to top the visiting Fredonia State Blue Devils in four sets tonight (25-16, 24-26, 25-16, 25-14).
Daemen got 12 kills from sophomore
Lindsey Nowak (Hamburg, NY/Immaculata) as the Wildcats improve to 18-9 overall on the season.
Strong play in the middle was key for the Wildcats all night long as junior
Kaitlin Watchey (Jamestown, NY/Jamestown) and sophomore
Ye Wang (Beijing, China/Hachioji Jissen) combined for 18 kills on an attack percentage of .516 to go with eight blocks.
Fredonia State, who drops to 17-14 on the season, got 11 kills from Kaitlin Orcutt and 10 from Lindsey Olson.
Kaley Vazquez (Kenmore, NY/Kenmore West) set her way to 26 assists while Daemen also got 22 digs from junior
Paige Tilert (Derby, NY/Lake Shore).
Another bright spot for Daemen was the play of sophomore
Natalie Meyer (Orchard Park, NY/Orchard Park). Meyer, playing in her third straight match after missing most of the season thus far due to injury, emerged in the fourth set with four kills to help the Wildcats close things out. Her presence allowed coach
Mark Parisi to go a little deeper in the bench as a tired Wildcat team played their sixth match of the last seven days.
Daemen is back in action on Saturday (10/27) in a tri-match at Roberts Wesleyan. The Wildcats will face East Coast Conference-member NYIT at 1pm before taking on the host Redhawks at 3pm.
