ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's track and field team opened their 2012-13 season today at the Early Season Invitational hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology.  Today's event marked the first indoor event for Daemen's track and field program since being established in 2010.

Highlighting the Wildcats' efforts today was senior thrower Mark Fox (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) who won the shot put event with a toss of 13.91 meters, beating out R.I.T.'s Michael Haynes' throw of 13.81 meters.

Also performing well for Daemen was fifth-year senior Brett Smith (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central).  The former Daemen cross country standout placed seventh in the one-mile run with a time of 4:40.24.
