FULL MEN'S RESULTS

BROOKVILLE, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's and women's cross-country teams were back in action today, partaking in the LIU-Post Invitational.  The Wildcat men finished in 11th place out of 17 participating teams while the women split the field, finishing 10th out of 20 teams.  Division I teams took the titles as Fordham won the men's race with a team score of 65 and St. John's took the women's race with a team score of 72.

The races, 5K for women and 8K for men, were held on the campus of LIU-Post, a member of the East Coast Conference (ECC).  The objective for Daemen and first-year coach Jessica Gorski was to see where the Wildcats would stack up amongst their future conference members.

The Daemen men finished 8th out of nine when grouped with the ECC teams.  The women fared a little better, finishing sixth when grouped with the ECC teams.

Leading the Daemen men was sophomore Zac Ekdahl (Middlesex, NY/Marcus Whitman HS) who came in at 28:02.31, finishing 31st in a field of 167 runners.  Next in for the Wildcats was sophomore Zach Eustance (Hilton, NY/Hilton HS) in 49th place at 28:50.34.

Scott Litts of Dowling won the men's race with a time of 26:01.53.

On the women's side, Jordan Weir (Cato, NY/Cato-Meridian HS) led the way for Daemen for the second straight week.  Her time of 20:06.04 was good for 17th place.  Fellow freshman Monica Griffiths (Hilton, NY/Hilton HS) was next for Daemen at 21:36.32, finishing in 57th in a 184-runner field.

Galdys Kimutai of NYIT took the women's race with a time of 18:47.20.

Both Daemen teams are back in action next Saturday, September 22 at the Highlander Invitational on the campus of Houghton College.
