FULL RESULTS

FAIRVIEW, Pa. - The Daemen College men's cross country team was back in action for the first time in two weeks, finishing in second place at the 8th Annual Mercyhurst/Gannon Invitational held at Pleasant Ridge Park this afternoon.

Daemen's 47 points put them just slightly ahead of third-place finisher Gannon University (53), but were a distant second behind Mercyhurst University which won the team title after amassing just 20 points.  The co-hosts did so by placing three runners in the top five finishers.

It was Edinboro's Jordan Roose who won the 8K race with a time of 26:51.

Matt Cregan (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) continued his solid freshman season for Daemen, finishing in sixth place with a time of 27:56.  Cregan was named the East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week after his performance at the Highlander Invitational back on Sept. 21 and he'll figure to be in the running for the honor again this week.

Junior Zach Eustance (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) was in next for Daemen, finishing in 10th place with a time of 28:19, while newcomer Jeremy Rushok (Akron, N.Y./Buffalo State College) ran a 28:42 race to finish in 13th.

Veterans Zac Ekdahl (Middlesex, N.Y./Marcus Whitman) and Ethan Dinan (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) rounded out the scorers for Daemen, finishing in 15th and 17th, respectively, in the 32-participant field.

The Wildcats will get another stretch of rest before returning to racing as a participant for the first time at the East Coast Conference Championships on Oct. 27.
