AMHERST, N.Y. - Junior middle blocker Ye Wang (Beijing, China/Hachioji Jissen) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Volleyball Player of the Week for matches occurring Oct. 14-20 as announced by the conference office today.
Wang led Daemen to a 2-1 record last week, including a weekend sweep of conference matches against Queens College (Saturday, Oct. 19) and Molloy College (Sunday, Oct. 20). Â In the team's three matches last week, Wang hit .373 and totaled 51 kills to average 4.25 per set. Â She also picked up 10 total blocks on the week.
In a 3-1 win over Queens, she set a career high with 20 kills and against Molloy, she finished with 17 kills and a .615 hitting percentage.
It's the second time this season that Wang has earned the weekly honor. Â She was previously named the ECC Player of the Week for Sept. 16-22 after leading Daemen to four straight wins at the Yellow Jacket Invitational hosted by American International College.
Wang and the Wildcats host ECC foes Long Island University Post (Friday, Oct. 25, 7 p.m.) and New York Institute of Technology (Saturday, Oct. 26, 11 a.m.) later this week at Lumsden Gymnasium.
