DOBBS FERRY, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's soccer team suffered a hard-luck 2-1 defeat against Mercy College in an East Coast Conference matchup held at Mavericks Field this afternoon.  With the loss, Daemen drops to 4-12-1 on the season (0-8-1 in conference) while Mercy, the No. 7 ranked team in the East Region of NCAA Division II, etched ever-so-closer to an ECC Tournament bid with their fourth conference win of the season (10-3-4, 4-2-3 ECC).

Two tallies from the Mavericks' Michael Ledesma proved too much to overcome for the Wildcats.  After a scoreless first half, Ledesma put one past Daemen goalkeeper Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) in the 75th minute off a feed from Ransmond Aboagye.  He would add his second of the day in the 81st minute off a pass from Danny Leon, Jr., putting Mercy ahead by two.

Daemen would answer back with a breakaway goal from freshman forward Alex Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) at the 85:44 mark.  But, with time winding down, the Wildcats could get not get the equalizer.

For Reid, it was his seventh tally of the season - the most by a Daemen freshman since Lorcan McCarthy had eight back in 2005.

Nick Papas earned the win in goal for Mercy, making one save in the full 90:00.  Daddario stood tall for Daemen, making nine stops but took the loss.

Mercy held a 25-5 advantage in total shots, but corner kick opportunities were even at two apiece.

Next up for Daemen is their season finale at St. Thomas Aquinas College this Sunday (Nov. 3).  Game time is set for 12:30 p.m. from Spartan Field in Sparkill, N.Y.
