ROCHESTER, N.Y. - Senior thrower Mark Fox (Dansville, N.Y./Dansville) continued his fine indoor season to pace the Daemen College men's track and field team at the Orange and Brown Invitational hosted by the Rochester Institute of Technology at Gordon Field House today.
Fox took third place in the shot put with a toss of 15.10 meters. It was his fourth top-five finish in the event already this season.
Freshman Robert Ralyea (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) finished in 12th place in the pole vault competition after clearing the bar at 3.81 meters.
Freshman leapers Sam Rugg (Freeville, N.Y./Dryden) and Hunter Berry (Colden, N.Y./Springville-Griffith) finished 14th and 20th, respectively, in the long jump. Rugg's jump of 6.18 meters was less than a meter off the high-mark in the event set by Alfred State's Desmond Chambers at 7.08 meters.
Fifth-year senior Brett Smith (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne Central) ran the 5000 meters in 16:08.41 to finish in 14th place.

Next up for the Wildcats is a trip to the East Coast Conference Indoor Championships on Feb. 23 in Huntington, N.Y. As a provisional member of the conference, Daemen will not be eligible for the team championship at the event, although Wildcat athletes can be crowned as champions in their individual events.
