FLUSHING, N.Y. - The Daemen College women's track and field team wrapped up their 2012-13 season today, finishing in seventh place in the team standings at the East Coast Conference (ECC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships.

Georgian Court University, an ECC member for track and field only, took home the conference title after amassing 211 points to top the University of the District of Columbia who finished with 162 points in second place.

Freshman long distance runner Jordan Weir (Cato, N.Y./Cato-Meridian) and junior thrower Ashley Pinette (Rowley, Mass./Westfield State University) were the top performers for Daemen.  Weir earned six points with her third place finish in the 5000 meter run with a time of 19:00.16.  Pinette accounted for six points as well with a trio of top-six finishes in the shot put (6th place; 10.35 meters), discus (4th place; 34.91 meters) and hammer throw (6th place; 36.44 meters).

Daemen also got top-12 finishes on the track from freshmen Brooke Nolan (Depew, N.Y./Depew) and Casey Oliphant (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) as well as from sophomore Erin Hannah (Newfane, N.Y./Newfane).

Nolan came in 10th in the 800 meter run (2:31.56) while Hannah came in 12th in the 1500 meter run (5:27.36).  Oliphant had a 12th place showing in the 100 meter dash (13.46 seconds) and added a 14th place finish in the 200 meter dash (27.49 seconds).

The event this weekend brings to a close this historic season for Daemen.  Coach Jessica Gorski's squad competed during the indoor season this past winter for the first time ever after indoor track and field was officially added to Daemen's growing stable of intercollegiate athletic teams for the 2012-13 academic year, while also becoming the first Daemen team to compete within the ECC, which all of Daemen's teams will join in 2013-14 as part of the College's transition to NCAA Division II.
