THE MATCHUP: Daemen College hosts Davis & Elkins College in a non-conference women's soccer matchup...game time is 2 p.m...live stats can be accessed HERE.

THE COACHES: Dan Dolan is in his fifth season as head coach at Daemen...the 2011 American Mideast Conference (AMC) Coach of the Year, Dolan has led the Wildcats to three consecutive winning seasons and owns a career record of 46-28-2 (.618)...he guided Daemen to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) national championship last fall...Raul Ovalle is in his sixth season as head coach at Davis & Elkins and has guided the Senators to a 50-39-3 (.559) record.

THE SERIES: The Wildcats and Senators met for the first time ever last fall at Davis & Elkins...the Senators prevailed 2-1...the game appeared headed for overtime before D&E broke a 1-1 tie when Kristin Turschmann scored off a corner kick with just 2:43 left in regulation...Kayla Hampton stopped four shots for Daemen, while Ashley Winkelspecht made four saves for the Senators.

NCAA DIVISION II: Daemen is in Candidacy Year Two of the NCAA Division II membership process...Daemen has been accepted as a member of the East Coast Conference (ECC) and will play full regular-season conference schedules beginning this fall...the College will also maintain its affiliation with the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) for postseason opportunities, as it will not be eligible for the ECC or NCAA postseason during Candidacy Year Two.

THE WILDCATS: Daemen lost six starters from last year's team that won eight of its final nine contests en route to the USCAA championship...a solid backline--led by juniors Hannah Fraser (Milton, Vt./Milton) and Meghan Diehl (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) and redshirt-sophomore Meghan Lipinoga (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Canisius College)--returns intact...the unit has shutout six of its last eight opponents dating back to the end of last season...offensive firepower returns in the form of seniors Alexa Amato (Grand Island, N.Y./Grand Island) and Samantha Engel (Dryden, N.Y./Dryden)...Amato collected team Most Valuable Player honors and first team USCAA All-America honors last fall after leading the team in goals (10) and points (22)...Engel entered the year with 75 career points (25 gls, 25 asts) and garnered second team USCAA All-America honors last season...Daemen opened the year with home wins over Aldersson-Broaddus (4-0) and Maine-Fort Kent (2-0) last weekend...Engel totaled a goal and an assist in each of the games, while redshirt senior Kacey Bougard (East Aurora, N.Y./Sacred Heart) made the most of her first game action since 2010 with a "hat trick" and an assist in the season-opening win over A-B...the Wildcats are coming off a 1-0 loss at Edinboro Wednesday night...the loss snapped Daemen's seven-game winning streak dating back to the end of last season...redshirt freshman Kathryn Haessner (Moravia, N.Y./Moravia) has started all three games in net and made a career-high 11 saves in the loss to Edinboro...she made nine saves in the win over UMFK.

HONOR ROLL: Engel and Haessner each received accolades from the ECC for their play last week...Engel was named the conference's Offensive Player of the Week, while Haessner earned Co-Rookie of the Week honors...Engel was also honored as the USCAA Player of the Week.

THE SENATORS: Davis & Elkins is located in Elkins, W. Va. and is a member of the newly-formed NCAA Division II Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC)...the Senators were picked second in the G-MAC preseason poll...D&E was a member of the now defunct West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WVIAC) last year...the Senators return 10 players and three all-conference performers from last year's team that posted an 11-4-2 record...D&E opened the year with back-to-back losses to Shepherd University (1-0) and Lake Erie College (2-1), and is coming off a 4-0 loss at Roberts Wesleyan College Thursday...junior forward  Emma Davis, sophomore midfielder Taylor Morton and junior goaltender Ashley Winkelspecht top the list of returning players...Davis collected National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region honors last fall after totaling six points...Morton was named WVIAC Freshman of the Year last fall after totaling a team-high 24 points (9 gls, 6 asts)...Winkelspecht started all 17 games last year and earned all-conference honors after posting a 0.69 GAA with six shutouts...she made six saves in the season-opening loss to Shepherd and stopped nine shots against Roberts Wesleyan...sophomore Maggie Fry scored in the loss to Lake Erie.

DID YOU KNOW?: Dating back to last season, Daemen is 10-2-0 over its last 12 games and has outscored its opponents 31-8 over that span...the Wildcats have shutout seven of their last 12 opponents.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Wildcats are idle until next weekend when they open up ECC play against  Queens College (Sept. 21 at 1 p.m.) and Molloy College (Sept. 22 at 11 a.m.)...both games are at Dimp Wagner Stadium.
