ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's cross country team opened its 2013 season today at the Talon Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College, finishing the 5K race in second place out of four competing teams. The host Redhawks swept the top five spots in the race to sit atop the team standings.
Daemen's top five finishers came in one-after-another, finishing in spots 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15. Newcomer Jeremy Rushok (Akron, N.Y./Buffalo State College) led the charge with a time of 16:35.7.
He was followed by junior Zach Eustance (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) (16:39.2), freshman Matt Cregan (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay) (16:41.3), senior Ethan Dinan (Geneva, N.Y./Geneva) (16:46.6), and freshman Nigel Cordulla (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) (17:01.5) to round out the scorers for Daemen.
Enock Bor of RWC won the race with a time of 15:47.1.
The Wildcats are back in action next Saturday (Sept. 21) and the Highlander Invitational hosted by Houghton College.
