Men's Cross Country Takes 6th At Anderson Invitational

ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Daemen College men's cross country team earned a sixth-place finish at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational hosted by Roberts Wesleyan College on its campus today.

The 8K race featured 17 teams, including East Coast Conference-affiliates Roberts Wesleyan, Long Island University Post, Molloy College and New York Institute of Technology.  The host Redhawks scored 33 points to sit atop the team standings, besting second-place LIU Post by 18.

RWC placed three runners in the top six finishers, led by Enock Bor who won the race with a time of 25:39.4.  He was joined by LIU Post's Michael Scott (25:53.8) as the only runners, out of 144 participants, with a sub-25-minute race.

The Wildcats totaled 169 points to sit 20 behind the University of Rochester which finished fifth in the team standings.

Daemen was paced by freshman Matt Cregan (Syracuse, N.Y./Solvay)  The reigning East Coast Conference Rookie of the Week earned a 15th-place finish by running the race in 26:52.6 - the best 8K time of his young career thus far.

Newcomer Jeremy Rushok (Akron, N.Y./Buffalo State College) was the next Wildcat past the finish line, coming in 27th (27:26.7).  He was followed closely by 29th-place finisher Zach Eustance (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) who came in just seconds later (27:30.8).

Junior Zac Ekdahl (Middlesex, N.Y./Marcus Whitman) and freshman Nigel Cordulla (Cheektowaga, N.Y./John F. Kennedy) rounded out the scorers for Daemen.  Ekdahl (28:08.1) came in 44th while Cordulla (28:34.0) was the 54th-place finisher.

Daemen is idle until the Mercyhurst/Gannon Invitational on Oct. 12.  That will represent their final preparation before LIU Post hosts the East Coast Conference Championships on Oct. 27.
