Men's Soccer Drops Defensive Battle at Molloy

ROCKVILLE CENTRE, N.Y. – An unassisted goal by senior Joey Pinto (Lynbrook, N.Y.) with just over 20 minutes to play lifted Molloy College to a 1-0 victory over Daemen College here today in East Coast Conference men's soccer action.

Molloy which posted a 1-0 victory over Roberts Wesleyan College Friday, improved to 5-7-1 overall and 5-2-0 in the ECC. Daemen, which was coming off a 2-0 setback at Queens College on Friday, dropped to 5-7-0 overall and 2-5-0 in the league.

The tightly played game featured limited scoring opportunities. Molloy finished with nine total shots and just two shots on goal, while the Wildcats managed just four total shots (one on goal).

It was the team-leading third goal of the year for Pinto, who scored off a free kick from 30 yards out.

Senior Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) went the distance in net for the Wildcats and made one save. Senior Justin Corke (Valley Stream, N.Y.) made one save for Molloy en route to his fourth shutout of the year.

Daemen is idle until next weekend (Oct. 25) when it travels to the University of the District of Columbia for a league match.
