BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Daemen College men's soccer team fell to 2-4-0 on the season today after dropping a 2-0 East Coast Conference (ECC) decision to the Bridgeport University Purple Knights at the Knights field this afternoon.  With the win, the Purple Knights upped their record to 2-3 (1-1 ECC) on the year while the Wildcats dropped their second conference match falling 2-0 in the ECC.

Bridgeport posted a 1-0 double overtime victory against the Wildcats last year at Dimp Wagner Stadium as Lee Martins scored the game-winning goal three minutes into the second overtime. The Purple Knights now lead 2-0 in the series.

Lazar Baresic got the hosts on the board in the 16th minute after receiving a pass from Luka Ivanovic and placing the ball to the bottom corner past Daemen goalkeeper Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home).

Less than three minutes later, Bridgeport's Jay Abreu headed the ball in goal off a cross from preseason defensive player of the year, Christoffer Olesen. Both goals also marked the first of the season for Baresic and Abreu.

Daemen held a slight 7-6 advantage in corner kicks while also putting five shots on goal but Bridgeport's Agustin Prados was there to take home the shutout.

The Purple Knights launched 17 shots, placing nine of them on frame. The Wildcats were under pressure most of the game as Daddario was called upon to make seven saves in the game.

Up next for the Daemen men's soccer team is a trip to the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown in Johnstown, Pa. for a non-league game Saturday (Sept. 27).
