Box Score JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - TheDaemen College men's soccer team scored two first half goals to defeat the University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown 2-0 today in a non-conference game at the Pitt-Johnstown Soccer Field.
Caleb Holmes (Cuba, N.Y./Cuba-Rushford) and
Robert Ralyea(Lockport, N.Y. / Lockport HS) both locked in their first goals of the season helping the Wildcats improve to 3-4 on the season while UPJ dropped to 1-6.
Holmes scored off an assist from
Andy Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) in the 15th minute to put the Wildcats up 1-0.
Alex Reid (Lockport, N.Y./Lockport) sent a cross to Ralyea who finished the goal with a header in the 29
th minute which gave the Wildcats a 2-0 victory.
The Wildcats controlled the game with plenty of strong tackling, crisp passing, and exciting scoring chances. Daemenfired 19 total shots in the game and held a 9-7 advantage in corner kick opportunities.
Senior goalkeeper
Matt Daddario (Amherst, N.Y./Sweet Home) made four saves to pick up his first shutout of the season and the win for Daemen.
The Wildcats will look to keep the momentum rolling when they host their first East Coast Conference games of the season next weekend. Daemen will welcome Mercy College on Friday (Oct. 3) and St. Thomas Aquinas College Sunday (Oct.5).
