With the loss, Daemen falls to 3-7-2 and SMC improves to 4-8 overall. Today's contest was the first-ever meeting between the two teams. The Purple Knights outshot the Wildcats 18-5, 13-2 shots-on-goal. Senior Allegra DiCesare (Lynnfield, Mass) netted a pair of goals in the opening half to give the Purple Knights the two-score advantage. At 15 minutes, DiCesare shot the ball barely sneaking by the Daemen defense, to slip into the ride side of the goal, putting Saint Michael's on the board. Sara Rooke (Springfield, Mass) directed a pass to teammate DiCesare, who chipped it over the goalkeeper's hands for her second goal of the game, 29 minutes in. The Wildcats got into action in the 59th minute after freshman Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y. /Williamsville South) chipped in a long pass from Alexis Koral (Williamsville, N.Y. /William Smith College). Boyar tapped the ball above sophomore keeper Megan LeCours (Barre, Vt.) to narrow the gap. The Wildcats would get two more chances to even the score, with shots from Skyler Matthews (Naples, N.Y. /Naples) and Kalyn Compeau (Tonawanda, N.Y. /Medaille College). Both attempts went wide and Daemen was unable catch the Purple Knights. Boyar had a team-high two shots-on-goal and netted her third goal of the 2016 season. Sophomore goalkeeper Jackie Wescott (Glen, Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) made 11 saves in the losing effort, this marks her fourth game of the season with at least 10 saves. SMC's Matthews was credited with one save in the victory. Daemen visits University of Pittsburgh-Johnstown on Tuesday, October 11 for continued non-conference action. The Wildcats host ECC opponents NYIT and LIU Post next weekend (Oct. 14, 16), the games will be played at The Park School Field in Amherst, N.Y.
