Women's Bowling Goes 2-4 On Day Two Of Golden Bear Classic

READING, Pa. - The Daemen College women's bowling team resumed play on day two of the Golden Bear Classic hosted by Kutztown University at Bowl-O-Rama today, going 2-4 over their six Baker format matches on the day.

The results today push Daemen's overall record to 11-20 in this, the team's inaugural season of existence.  The Wildcats are now 2-9 over the last two days at the Golden Bear Classic heading into tomorrow's best-of-seven Baker format matches.  The Wildcats rank 11th of the 12 competing teams in terms of total pinfall thus far.

The Wildcats were outmatched by the tournament host, Kutztown, the nation's No. 15 ranked team, in today's opener, 913-744.  The Golden Bears became just the second team to top 900 pins against Daemen this season, joining Saint Francis University who did so on Ocotber 18 at the Kutztown Fall Baker Invitational.

Coach Jennifer Kinyon's squad got off the proverbial schneid by defeating Morgan State University, 766-745.  That snapped a five-match drought for the Wildcats.

Losses to Franklin Pierce University (844-568), Felician College (859-734) and New Jersey City University (749-627) followed before Daemen closed the day with a come-from-behind victory over Salem International University (636-614).  A 164-137 fifth frame helped Daemen overcome a five-pin deficit heading into that final set.

Daemen was paced once again today by the trio of freshman Jess Cunningham (Watervliet, N.Y./Watervliet), redshirt-freshman Julie Mitchell (Alden, N.Y./Alden) and redshirt-freshman Kaitlyn O'Hara (Clarence Center, N.Y./Clarence).  Cunningham carried a 15.3 pins per frame average today, and has a two-day tournament average of 16.3.  Mitchell was just behind her today was a pins per frame average of 15.2, giving her a two-day average of 14.1.  O'Hara averaged 14.8 pins per frame today, and her two-day tournament average is 15.4.

Daemen will face Sale International to open the final day of the tournament tomorrow.  The Wildcats have an opportunity to finish as high as ninth or as low as 12th based on tomorrow's results.
