Juliano's Golden Goal Lifts Wildcats Past Findlay

Daemen Works Overtime To Earn First Win of 2016

FINDLAY, Ohio — Junior forward Alex Juliano (Hamburg, N.Y./Nardin Academy) scored five minutes into overtime to lift the Daemen College women's soccer team to a 2-1 victory over host University of Findlay here this afternoon. It marked the first win of the 2016 season for Daemen, which improved to 1-2-0 on the year. Findlay, a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, dropped to 1-3-0.

Daemen broke a scoreless tie with just 3:22 left in the first half when junior Kalyn Compeau (Tonawanda, N.Y./Medaille College) scored off a pass from redshirt sophomore Sarah Britton (Syracuse, N.Y./East-Syracuse-Minoa). It marked the first career goal for Compeau, who transferred to Daemen after playing at Medaille College the past two seasons.

Findlay knotted the score in the 61st minute when freshman midfielder Sierra Peacock (Beavercreek, Ohio) slotted a shot past Daemen net minder Jackie Wescott (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South) off a feed from sophomore Megan Kupetz (Sylvania, Ohio). It marked the second goal of the year for Peacock.

Juliano's game winner came off a cross from freshman Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South). It marked the first career point for Boyar and the first goal of the year for Juliano.

Findlay posted an 11-8 advantage in total shots, while the Wildcats finished with a 7-6 edge in shots on goal. Both teams finished with seven corner kicks.

Wescott made her second start of the year between the pipes for the Wildcats and finished with five saves to earn her first career win. Junior Sarah Baer (Perrysburg, Ohio) went the distance in net for Findlay and made five saves.

Daemen will remain in The Buckeye State and take on Tiffin University tomorrow (Sept. 11) at noon.
