For Communications Compeau Scores A Pair To Lead Wildcats Past Spartans AMHERST, N.Y. - Newcomer Kalyn Compeau (Tonawanda, N.Y./Medaille College) picked an opportune time for a breakout game as she scored a pair of goals to lead the Daemen College women's soccer team to a 3-1 victory over visiting St. Thomas Aquinas College in East Coast Conference action at Park School Field this afternoon. For Compeau, it was the second multi-goal game of her career, including the two seasons she spent playing for Medaille College.  Both tallies today came in the second half, including the game-winner. With the win, Daemen evens its ECC mark at 1-1-0 while also moving to 3-3-1 overall this season.  STAC falls to 2-5-0 overall and 0-2-0 in the league.  It was also the Wildcats' second straight win in the all-time series which now sits tied at 2-2-1. After a scoreless first half, Daemen freshman Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville South) put the Wildcats on the board with her second tally in the last three games.  Boyar took a pass from classmate Lindsay Ciaramella (St. George, Ont./Paris District), dribbled up the sideline and scored on a high shot inside the far post in the 62nd minute. Compeau put the Wildcats ahead by two in the 72nd minute, scoring off a feed from sophomore Alex Juliano (Hamburg, N.Y./Nardin). Just five minutes later, STAC cut the deficit in half as freshman Maya LaFleur (Lincoln, R.I,) netted her first goal of the season, unassisted, on a high shot over top of Daemen goalkeeper Jackie Wescott (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard South). But, Compeau would give the Wildcats some breathing room with her second goal of the day, and third of the season, in the 84th minute.  Compeau capitalized on scramble situation as the ball bounced around the box before she calmly lifted it into an open goal as STAC goalkeeper Courtney Dumain (Monroe, N.Y.) was caught out of position. Daemen wound up with 18 total shots on the day, placing 11 on frame.  STAC managed just five shots with three going on goal.  Wescott turned away two Spartan shots en route to posting her third goalkeeping victory of the season.  Her counterpart, Dumain, made a game-high eight saves in defeat. Daemen closes its season-long four-game home-stand by hosting Salem International University in non-league play this Thursday, September 22.
