For Communications Cheff Completes Second Triathlon In As Many Days Daemen Standout Finishes 20th On Second Day Of Clermont Draft Legal Challenge CLERMONT, Fla. - Competing for the second time in as many days, Daemen College tri-athlete Ashley Cheff (Niagara Falls, N.Y./Niagara Falls) finished in 20th place today in the Clermont Draft Legal Challenge Under-25 Elite Development Race held at Lake Louisa State Park. Cheff complete today's race in 1:13:05, shaving 24 seconds off her time from yesterday which placed her 23rd out of 46 competitors.  Today's race, which featured a 750-meter open-water swim in Lake Louisa, a 20-kilometer cycling portion and a 5-kilometer run, had 47 competitors of which 42 finished the race.  Cheff was slightly slower today in both the swimming and running portions of the event, but completed the cycling portion in 37:26 which was nearly a full minute faster than she did yesterday (38:21). Chelsea Sodaro, who finished as the runner-up yesterday, won the event today, completing the course in 1:06:05. The sport of triathlon was termed an Emerging Sport For Women by the NCAA in January of 2014, establishing a 10-year window for the formation of 40 intercollegiate programs.  At present, according to USA Triathlon which oversees intercollegiate competitions, Daemen is one of 13 schools in the country to sponsor a varsity triathlon program for women. Cheff and her Daemen teammates are now idle until the St. Anthony's Triathlon on Sunday, April 30 in St. Petersburg, Fla.
