For Communications Women's Soccer Blanks Tiffin To Close Homestand AMHERST, N.Y. - Sophomore forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.) netted a pair of goals and freshman goalkeeper Katelin White (Lewiston, N.Y.) recorded 11 saves to lead Daemen College to a 2-0 victory over Tiffin University in non-conference women's soccer action today at Karrer Field.  In picking up its second consecutive win, Daemen improved to 2-1-1 on the season, and today's game marked the close to the Wildcats' four-game homestand. Tiffin, which was looking to make it a 2-0 trip to the Empire State following their 2-1 overtime win Friday at Roberts Wesleyan College, fell to 1-3-1 on the season. Boyar, who scored on a penalty kick in overtime Friday vs. Lake Erie College, put Daemen on the board today at the 29:03 mark. She made a run up the middle of the field and took a feed from classmate Lindsay Ciaramella (St. George, Ont.), finishing the play with a low shot inside the right post. The score remained 1-0 until Boyar struck again, scoring off a feed from redshirt junior midfielder Sarah Britton (Syracuse, N.Y.) with a shot from outside the box that beat TU goalkeeper Samantha Ortenzi to the upper right portion of the goal. Five of White's saves came after the Wildcats went ahead by two. She and the defenders in front of her - juniors Monique Green (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Alex Valenti (Clarence, N.Y.), and freshmen Sam D'Agostino (Mississauga, Ont.) and Kayla Goeddertz (Rochester, N.Y.) - sealed the deal on Daemen's first shutout since blanking this same Tiffin team 1-0 almost a year ago to the day (Sept. 11, 2016). Tiffin held a 19-15 edge in total shot attempts, and an 11-8 advantage in shots on goal. Ortenzi made six saves to keep the Dragons in the game. Daemen hits the road for the first time this season next Saturday, Sept. 16 to open East Coast Conference play at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
