Custodi, who was recently named an All-Region honoree by the College Triathlon Coaches Association following her performance at the Collegiate Triathlon Central Region Qualifier last week, posted a time of 1:20:18 in today's competition. Custodi wasn't the only Daemen triathlete to shine today. Seniors Jenifer Igoe (Oakfield, N.Y.) and Nichole Geiger (Orchard Park, N.Y.), and redshirt sophomore Carly Scott (Batavia, N.Y.) all faired well for the Wildcats. Igoe posted a time of 1:29:39 to finish ninth overall and first among females in the 20-24 age bracket. Geiger (1:30:58) was the 12th female to cross the finish line, and the third in the 20-24 age bracket. And Scott, who made her Daemen debut, posted a time of 1:45:26 which placed her 50th overall and fifth among the female 20-24 age bracket. The sport of triathlon, which incorporates swimming, running and cycling, was termed an Emerging Sport For Women by the NCAA in January of 2014, establishing a 10-year window for the formation of 40 intercollegiate programs. The Daemen women's triathlon team, now in its third season of existence, is one of 15 NCAA programs in the country at present. Daemen's next competitive opportunity comes two weeks from today (Sunday, Sept. 24) at the Deer Creek Fall Challenge in Mt. Sterling, Ohio.
