"I am incredibly proud of Amber, not only for the way she performed on the course today, but for all the work she's put in with our program over the last year to put herself in this position," said Daemen head coach Dr. Jon Metz following Custodi's performance at the Central Regional Qualifier. "It's a great accomplishment for her, especially this early in her career, and I'm excited for everything that will come her way over the next several seasons." The sport of triathlon, which incorporates swimming, running and cycling, was termed an Emerging Sport For Women by the NCAA in January of 2014, establishing a 10-year window for the formation of 40 intercollegiate programs. The Daemen women's triathlon team, now in its third season of existence, is one of 15 NCAA programs in the country at present. Custodi and her triathlon teammates continue the 2017-18 season this weekend (Sunday, Sept. 10) at the Finger Lakes Triathlon in Canandaigua, N.Y.
