AMHERST, N.Y. - Isa McCaffrey (North Royalton, Ohio) of Daemen College has been named the East Coast Conference Women's Volleyball Setter of the Week for matches played September 24-30. It marks the fifth straight week that McCaffrey has earned a weekly honor from the conference; she was previously named ECC Rookie of the Week for August 27-September 2, and ECC Setter of the Week for September 3-9, September 10-16 and September 17-23. The official announcement of this week's accolades was made via the league's weekly sport report which was released this afternoon from conference headquarters in West Babylon, N.Y.

McCaffrey, a 5-foot-8 freshman, continued her stellar rookie season as she averaged 11.33 assists per set while helping Daemen earn ECC road wins over Molloy College and Queens College last week. The pair of victories extended Daemen's conference winning streak to five straight games, keeping their unblemished ECC record (5-0) intact which places them at the top of the conference standings. Overall, Daemen has won nine of their last 11 matches to sit at 11-8 on the season.

McCaffrey opened the week by recording her third double-double in the Wildcats' 3-0 defeat of defending ECC champion Molloy. She posted 38 assists and 10 digs in the match. Against Queens, she notched 30 assists, her 12th consecutive match with at least that many. McCaffrey's efforts helped the Wildcats hit a season-high .373 while totaling 41 kills against the Knights.

McCaffrey presently leads the ECC in total assists (716) and assists per set (10.85). She also ranks among the national leaders in both categories (16th in total assists, 25th in assists per set), and is currently on pace to become just the seventh player in team history to surpass 1,000 assists in a single season. McCaffrey is also the only setter in the league to be quarterbacking an offensive attack that features six players averaging better than 2.0 kills per set. Only Molloy features as many as four players with that average.

McCaffrey and the Wildcats return to action this weekend with a two-match homestand as the University of Bridgeport (Friday, Oct. 5) and Mercy College (Saturday, Oct. 6) visit Lumsden Gymnasium.
