With the win, Daemen snaps a two-game slide and improves to 6-6 this season with a 4-3 mark in ECC play as they maintain their spot in the upper half of the league standings. It also marked the Wildcats' first-ever win over Queens; Daemen entered the contest 0-4-1 against the Knights all-time. Queens suffered its fourth straight loss while falling to 2-8-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league. It didn't take long for Boyar to put the Wildcats on the scoreboard as she struck just 37 seconds into the contest after de Pablo Esteban sent a pass through a couple of Queens defenders. Boyar outraced them to the ball and connected with a shot inside the left post from 10 yards out, beating QC goalkeeper Shenae Kreps who came off the goal line in an attempt to cut off Boyar's shooting angle. The Daemen junior struck again at the 16:06 mark. It was a similar play as a through ball from de Pablo Esteban led Boyar into the left side of the box where she launched a hard, line drive shot past Kreps and inside the far right post. Just over two minutes later, at the 18:22 mark, Boyar made it a trio of first half tallies. This time, de Pablo Esteban played a long pass over the top of the Queens defense, again leading Boyar into the left side of the box. Boyar took a similar shot which made its way inside the far right post. That was all the scoring Daemen would need. The Wildcat defense, keyed by seniors Monique Green (Williamsville, N.Y.) and Alex Valenti (Clarence, N.Y.), sophomore Sam D'Agostino (Mississauga, Ont.) and freshman Madeline Emmi (Grand Island, N.Y.), played stout throughout the contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Flores (Seattle, Wash.) made her seventh start of the season and registered six saves while recording her first shutout of the season, and the third of her career. Boyar's effort at the offensive end marked her second hat trick of the season, becoming the first Daemen player since Kacey Bougard in 2013 to record multiple three-goal games in the same season. She previously scored three goals in Daemen's 3-2 overtime win over Molloy College on Sept. 15. It was also Boyar's third multi-goal game of the season, and the seventh of her career. With a career-high 13 goals and 27 points on the season, Boyar leads all ECC players and ranks among the national leaders in both categories. She also stands just six shy of Kim Walker's team record for goals in a single season (19 goals in 2005), while also becoming just the seventh player in team history to score at least 13 goals in a season. The offensive output also helped Boyar continue her ascent up the Wildcats' career record lists. In 45 career games, Boyar has totaled 30 goals and 68 points. She's just the third player in team history to reach the 30-goal plateau, and today she moved past Alicia Vasiloff for fourth on Daemen's all-time points list. She's also now totaled 12 game-winning goals in the last two seasons. Daemen is 6-2 this season and 15-5-1 in her career when she scores at least one goal. Boyar wasn't the only player climbing the statistical charts today as de Pablo Esteban now leads the ECC with 10 assists on the season. She's the first Daemen player with at least 10 assists since Janelle Masi (15) and Lindsay Miller (14) both did so during the 2011 season. The Wildcats close out the home portion of their 2018 schedule this Sunday, Oct. 14 with a non-conference tilt vs. Clarion University. Kickoff is slated for 11 a.m. at Karrer Field. The game also marks Daemen's Senior Day; the afore-mentioned Green and Valenti, as well as Sarah Britton (Syracuse, N.Y.) and Andrea D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) will be honored in an on-field ceremony prior to playing in the final home game of their careers.
