Women's Soccer Draws on Senior Day

AMHERST, N.Y. – The Daemen College women's soccer team finished with a 0-0 draw against visiting Clarion University this afternoon in a non-conference game at Karrer Field.

This is the first time the Wildcats have had a 0-0 draw since September 13th, 2015 when it hosted Walsh University. This also marks the first draw of the season for the Wildcats and its first double overtime game. The result moves Daemen to 6-6-1 overall and Clarion moves to 2-11-1 overall.

Daemen was able to rattle off 26 shots with 15 on goal while Clarion got off 10 shots with five on goal.

The two keepers in sophomore Maddie Flores (Seattle, Wash.) of Daemen and senior Krista Mosi (South Park, Pa.) of Clarion both propelled their teams to earn a result. Flores had five saves while Mosi had 15 saves. This is Flores' second shutout of the season and Mosi's first.

The Wildcats were able to generate multiple scoring chances throughout the four periods, but Mosi kept every chance out.

In the first half, Daemen got off 12 shots with the most important coming from sophomore midfielder Sam Hanes (North Tonawanda, N.Y.). Hanes was able to get the shot off from just inside the box that rose. Mosi was able to push the ball into the crossbar on one of the best scoring chances of the game for either team.

The Wildcats got off 11 shots in the second half with junior forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.) leaking into the back. Boyar was able to get a shot off to the right which Mosi dove and caught for another scoring chance for the Wildcats.

This was also the final home game and Senior Day for the Wildcats in which four seniors were recognized. Alex Valenti (Clarence, N.Y.), Sarah Britton (Syracuse, N.Y.), Andrea D'Sa (Bellmore, N.Y.) and Monique Green (Williamsville, N.Y.) were all recognized before the game and all started in their final game at Karrer Field.

The Wildcats travel to take on Lincoln University (Pa.) in conference play on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m.
