With the loss, Daemen dropped to 0-2 on the season. SNHU, a team that boasts four Northeast-10 Conference championships in the last five seasons, improved to 2-0. The guests opened the match by taking two of the three doubles matches to establish a 1-0 lead. In a new scoring format for NCAA Division II matches this season, the outcome of doubles matches will award a single point to the team winning at least two of the three matchups, as opposed to awarding points for each individual doubles victory. SNHU's Bas Van Biezen and Willem Van Biezen scored a 6-3 win over DC's Fabian Wilde (Crimmitschau, Germany) and Jose Williamson III (Minneapolis, Minn.) in the first doubles position. Daemen evened things up with a 6-2 win by Patrick O'Brien (Pittsford, N.Y.) and Justin Milner (Ithaca, N.Y.) in the third doubles position. But, SNHU ultimately earned the point as Ricardo Marreiros and Miguel Marrieros teamed up on a 6-3 win over Daemen seniors Ricardo Ruiz Martinez (Valencia, Spain) and David Gonzalez Villegas (Pereira, Colombia) in the second doubles position. In singles play, the visiting Penmen earned points in the first, second, third, fourth and sixth positions. Ruiz Martinez fell to Tiago Fernandes, the two-time NE-10 Player of the Year, at the top of the lineup (6-0, 6-1.
