Boyar, de Pablo Esteban & D'Agostino Collect All-ECC Honors By: By Mike Miranto, Sr. Associate A.D. for External Operations & Communications Women's Soccer | 11/5/2018 5:20:00 PM AMHERST, N.Y. - A trio of players from the Daemen College women's soccer team have earned All-East Coast Conference honors following a vote of the league's 10 head coaches, ECC officials announced today. Junior forward Jamie Boyar (Williamsville, N.Y.) and sophomore midfielder Celia de Pablo Esteban (Burgos, Spain) are the first Daemen players ever to be named to the All-ECC first team, and sophomore defender Sam D'Agostino (Mississauga, Ont.) was selected to the All-ECC third team. The trio led Daemen to an 8-8-1 overall record this season, including a 5-4-0 mark in ECC play which earned the Wildcats their first-ever bid to the ECC Championship tournament. The five ECC wins are the most for Daemen since joining the league back in 2013, and the Wildcats have won at least eight games in back-to-back seasons for the first time since doing so in four straight seasons from 2010-13. "I'm very proud to see all three players be recognized for all-conference honors," said Daemen head coach Dan Dolan. "Jamie has improved greatly over her three years and came up huge in big time games over this season. Celia's speed of play and vision improved much from her freshman year and I look for her to become one of the best players in the ECC during the next two seasons. Sam was dynamite in the back this year and made some super clutch plays to help us make the playoffs." A two-time ECC Offensive Player of the Week selection, Boyar was the undoubted offensive catalyst for Daemen this season. She scored 20 goals and registered 43 points, finishing the regular season as the ECC leader in both. Her goal total established a new team record for a single season, surpassing Kim Walker's mark of 19 goals set in 2005, and it placed Boyar among the national leaders. She presently ranks seventh in total goals and 12th in total points among the NCAA Division II national leaders. Boyar opened the season by scoring four goals in the first five games, including game-winners against Bloomfield College and Shepherd University. Her season kicked into high gear on September 15 when she scored all three goals - including the game-winner in overtime - in a 3-2 win over Molloy College. It marked the first three-goal game of Boyar's career. It wouldn't be her last. She got on the scoresheet again with a pair of goals, including another overtime tally, in a 3-2 road win against longtime rival Roberts Wesleyan College on September 22. A week later, she scored Daemen's first goal in a 2-1 victory over N.Y. Institute of Technology, a win that would later prove pivotal as the Wildcats' edged NYIT by one point for the fourth and final conference tournament berth. After a pair of scoreless outings to start October, Boyar broke through again, scoring all three goals in a 3-0 shutout victory over Queens College on October 10. The highlight of the season came on October 17 when she notched five goals, two assists and 12 points in a 9-1 road win at ECC newcomer Lincoln University. The offensive outburst marked the most goals and points for any Division II player in a single game this season. She went on to record two goals in the regular season finale, a 6-0 road win at Chestnut Hill College, marking her fifth multi-goal game of the season. Boyar, who was a third team All-ECC selection last season, has appeared in and started all 50 games that the team has played over the last three seasons. For her career, she's totaled 37 goals, 10 assists and 84 points. She ranks second in goals and third in points among Daemen's all-time leaders. The Wildcats are 17-5-1 in games that she records a goal. The Spaniard, de Pablo Esteban, played a pivotal role in Daemen's success this season. From her attacking midfielder position, de Pablo Esteban racked up an ECC-best 14 assists this season, one shy of the Wildcats' single season record. The total presently ranks third among all Division II players nationwide. She also added four goals and totaled 22 points, a total that ranks seventh among all ECC players. She opened the season by earning ECC Offensive Player of the Week honors after totaling one goal and three assists in the first two games of 2018. De Pablo Esteban would go on to record three assists in two games during the month of October. She picked up all three assists on Boyar's goals vs. Queens, and she notched a trio of assists in the win over Lincoln. She added two goals and totaled a career-high seven points against the Lions. Against Chestnut Hill, de Pablo Esteban notched a goal and an assist, marking her fourth game of the season with at least three points. For her career, de Pablo Esteban has totaled eight goals, 17 assists and 33 points. She has appeared in and started all 34 of the team's games in the last two seasons. D'Agostino has developed into a stalwart along Daemen's back line. After appearing in and starting 15 games as a true freshman an 2017, she came back to start 16 contests this season. The Ontario native played stout at the center back position all season, helping Daemen pitch four shutouts. For her career, D'Agostino has appeared in 31 of a possible 34 games, and been a part of nine shutout efforts by the Wildcat defense.
