With the win, Northeast-10 Conference member Le Moyne evened its overall record at 3-3. Daemen dropped to 4-5. Le Moyne picked up wins at first and third doubles to take a 2-1 lead. David Gonzalez Villegas (Pereira, Colombia) and Ricardo Ruiz Martinez (Valencia, Spain) earned a 9-8 win in second doubles to put Daemen on the board. The match was knotted at 4-4 after Daemen mounted a comeback in singles play. Ruiz Martinez picked up a 6-4, 2-6, 6-2 win in third singles to narrow the gap. Sophomore Fabian Wilde (Crimmitschau, Germany) was trailing 4-0 in the third set when his opponent, Jason Barton (Lima, Ohio), was forced to retire. Freshman Jose Williamson III (Minneapolis, Minn.) got the equalizer as he downed Tyler Underwood (Minoa, N.Y.) in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-4). But Erickson came back to win the second and third set in his match vs. Pablo Martinez Hernandez (Huatulco, Mexico) to secure the victory for the Dolphins. Daemen looks to return to the win column tomorrow when visiting Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference powerhouse Edinboro University.Print Friendly Version
